‘Avatar’ sequel pang-apat na ngayon sa all-time global sales leader

Patuloy pa ring dinodomina ng “Avatar: The Way of Water” ang box-office charts, at kumita na ng tinatayang $15.7 million nitong nakalipas na linggo sa North American, para maging fourth-leading global grosser of all time.

Ang Disney/20thCentury sci-fi film, sa ilalim ng direksiyon ni James Cameron, ay pitong sunod na linggo nang #1, bagay na hindi pa nangyari mula nang ipalabas ni Cameron ang original “Avatar” noong 2009.

Ang malalaking resulta mula sa mga sinehan sa buong mundo — kabilang ang $237 milyong ticket sales sa China — ay nakatulong sa pagpapalakas ng “The Way of Water” para makuha ang 4th place globally all-time sa $2.117 billion.

Samantala, nasa ikalawang puwesto para sa North American weekend ang family-friendly “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish,” ng Universal na kumita ng $10.6 million para sa Friday-through-Sunday period.

Umakyat naman ng dalawang puwesto para pumasok na ngayon sa ikatlo, ang feel-good movie ng Sony na “A Man Called Otto,” na kumita ng $6.8 million. Si Tom Hanks ang gumanap sa pangunahing papel na adaptation ng Swedish novel na “A Man Called Ove.”

Kumita ng $6.4 million ang scary-doll thriller na “M3GAN” mula sa Universal at Blumhouse Productions para pumasok sa pang-apat.

Nakahabol naman sa pang-limang puwesto ang bagong action thriller ng And Yash Raj Films na “Pathaan.” Kumita ito ng $5.9 million, isang impressive North American total para sa isang Hindi-language film. Kinatatampukan ito ni Shah Rukh Khan, na kilalang “King of Bollywood.” Istorya ito tungkol sa mga spy, rogue agents at isang deadly lab-generated virus.
