‘Bullet Train’ nanguna sa N. America box office

Kumita ng $30.1 million ang “Bullet Train” ng Sony, ang bagong major studio release para manguna sa North American box office nitong weekend.

Ayon sa analyst na si David A. Gross . . . “It was a solid opening for an action thriller. The presence of lead star Brad Pitt is going to ensure international success.”

Sa pangunguna ni Brad Pitt, tampok din sa cast ng pelikula sina Joey King, Aaron Taylor-Johnson at Latin music star na si Bad Bunny. May kaunti ring role sina Sandra Bullock at Channing Tatum.

Nahulog naman sa number 2 ang box-office leader noong nakaraang linggo, ang animated “DC League of Super-Pets” ng Warner Bros., na kumita ng $11.2 million para sa Friday-Sunday period.

Ang ikatlong puwesto ay napunta sa horror flick ng Universal, ang “Nope,” na kumita ng $8.5 million. Ang sci-fi flick, ay sa ilalim ng panulat at direksiyon ni Jordan Peele, at pinagbibidahan ni Daniel Kaluuya.

Nasa 4th spot ang action comedy ng Disney na “Thor: Love and Thunder,” na kumita ng $7.6 million. Bida rito si Chris Hemsworth bilang “Thor” at Natalie Portman.

Number 5 naman ang family-friendly animation ng Universal, ang “Minions: The Rise of Gru.” Ito ang bagong episode sa “Despicable Me” franchise na kumita ng $7.1 million.

Sa pangkalahatan ayon kay Gross, ay naging maganda ang summer season para sa Hollywood . . . “Audiences have been doing everything they’ve been asked… and business has been very good for all types of films.”

“Top Gun: Maverick” ($7 million)
“Where the Crawdads Sing” ($5.7 million)
“Easter Sunday” ($5.3 million)
“Elvis” ($4 million)
“The Black Phone” ($1.5 million)
