Itinalaga ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte si Abella bilang bagong Undersecretary ng Department of Foreign Affairs.
Ito ay matapos masibak sa pagiging Presidetial Spokesman.
Samantala, bukod sa pagiging Presidential spokesperson, itinalaga ni Pangulong Duterte si Secretary Roque bilang concurrent Presidential Adviser on Human Rights.
