Sa ika-77 anibersaryo ng atomic bombing na nagwasak sa lungsod ng Nagasaki, sinabi ng alkalde ng lungsod na “Nuclear weapons present a ‘tangible and present crisis’ after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.”

Sa anibersaryo ng atomic bombing ay nagbabala si Nagasaki Mayor Tomihisa Taue sa pagsasabing, “In January this year, the leaders of the United States, Russia, the United Kingdom, France and China released a joint statement affirming that ‘a nuclear war cannot be won and must never be fought’.”

Gayunman, ng sumunod na buwan ng Pebrero ay inatake ng Russia ang Ukraine at nagbanta na gagamit ng nuclear weapons na nagdulot ng takot sa buong mundo.

Babala ni Taue, “The use of nuclear weapons is not a ‘groundless fear’ but a ‘tangible and present crisis’ and they could be unleashed through mistaken judgements, malfunctions or in terror attacks.”

Aniya, “Instead of waging war, mankind should foster a ‘culture of peace’ that spreads trust, respects others and seeks resolutions through dialogue.”
