‘Bullet Train,’ muling nanguna sa N. America box office sa 2nd week

Muling nanguna sa North American box office ang “Bullet Train” ng Sony, sa ikalawang linggo ng pagpapalabas nito sa kabila ng “flat mid-August period of moviegoing” ayon sa industry watcher na Exhibitor Relations.

Bilang huling major studio release ng summer, ang action thriller na pinagbibidahan ni Brad Pitt ay kumita ng $13.4 million, wala pang kalahati ng kinita nito noong isang linggo, ngunit halos doble pa rin ng kinita ng pinakamalapit nitong kakumpetensiya.

Nakuha naman ng dating number one na animated film “DC League of Super-Pets” ng Warner Bros. ang ikalawang puwesto, na kumita ng $7.2 million.

Umakyat naman sa 3rd spot ang “Top Gun: Maverick” ng Paramount. Ang lubhang popular na Tom Cruise sequel ay kumita ng $7.1 million. Kumita na rin ito ng tumataginting na $674 million sa North American ticket sales sa nakalipas na 12 weeks.

Nasa pang-apat ang Disney action comedy na “Thor: Love and Thunder,” na may kitang $5.3 million. Sa nakalipas na anim na linggo ay umabot na sa $325 million ang kinita nito.

Hindi naman nalalayo sa ika-limang puwesto ang “Nope” ng Universal Pictures na kumita ng $5.3 million. Ang sci-fi/horror flick, na pinalakas ng involvement ng sikat na Writer/Director na si Jordan Peele, ay pinagbibidahan ni Daniel Kaluuya.
