DOLE, naglaan ng P100-M para bigyan ng trabaho ang informal workers na naapektuhan ng bagyo

Inanunsiyo ng Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), na nasa 25,000 informal sector workers na naapektuhan ng bagyong Odette sa Visayas at Mindanao noong nakaraang linggo, ang bibigyan ng emergency employment.

Sinabi ni Secretary Silvestre Bello III, na kabuuang P100 million ang inilaan sa cash-for-work Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD), para sa nabanggit na mga manggagawa na nasa mga rehiyong pinaka tinamaan ng bagyo.

Ang bawat rehiyon ng Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao at Caraga, ay makatatanggap ng tig- P20 million para sa emergency employment ng 5,000 beneficiaries.

Ayon kay Bello . . . “Workers, particularly those in the informal sector, will be given emergency employment for 10 days. They will help in clearing, de-clogging of canals, debris segregation, materials recovery, and other activities needed in the rehabilitation of their communities. Through this engagement, they will not only earn money but also help rebuild their lives and locality.”

Sinabi naman ni Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns Director Ma. Karina Perida-Trayvilla, na magsasagawa ng profiling ang DOLE sa mga naapektuhan ng kalamidad para madetermina ang eligible beneficiaries.

Aniya . . . “The TUPAD program is institutionalized. This is what we implement every time there is a calamity, typhoon, and disasters, including human-made calamities. We will profile those affected by the calamity, particularly our informal sector workers.”

Ang TUPAD na isang community-based amelioration program, ay nagkakaloob ng emergency employment para sa displaced, underemployed, at seasonal workers para sa minimum period ng 10 araw hanggang sa maximum na 30 araw, depende sa uri ng trabahong kanilang gagawin.

Ang sasahurin ng beneficiaries ay base sa umiiral na minimum wage sa rehiyon, at ibibigay sa pamamagitan ng isang money remittance service provider.
