German ministers nagbabala laban sa pagboycott sa Russian oil

Nagbabala ang finance at foreign ministers ng Germany laban sa pag-ban sa Russian energy imports, habang naghahanap ng pinakamabuting paraan ang mga taga kanluran para higpitan ang Moscow dahil sa pananakop sa Ukraine.

Sa patuloy na pakikipaglaban ng kaniyang bansa, dalawang linggo mula nang magsimula ang pag-atake, hinimok ni Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky ang kaniyang Western allies na magpataw ng dagdag na sanctions laban sa Moscow, kabilang ang pagboycott sa kanilang lucrative oil at gas sector.

Subali’t sa Germany, na kasalukuyang may hawak sa rotating presidency ng G7, sinabi ni foreign minister Annalena Baerbock na ang naturang hakbang ay walang silbi dahil hindi naman ito maaaring gawin nang pangmatagalan.

Aniya . . . “It’s no use if in three weeks we find out that we only have a few days of electricity left in Germany and therefore we have to go back on these sanctions.”

Ayon pa kay Baerbock . . . “Germany was prepared ‘to pay a very, very high economic price’ but if tomorrow in Germany or Europe the lights go out, it’s not going to stop the tanks.”

Ang Germany ay umaasa sa Russian fossil fuels, kung saan tinatayang 55% ng kanilang gas at 42% ng kanilang langis at uling (coal) ay inaangkat nila mula sa Russia.

May pag-aalinlangan din si German Finance Minister Christian Lindner tungkol sa oil ban.

Aniya . . . “We should not limit our ability to sustain ourselves.”

Tumaas ng husto ang European at British gas prices nitong nakalipas na linggo bunga ng pangambang maputol ang suplay nito. At ang presyo ng langis ay patuloy sa pagtaas, kung saan ang Brent ay umabot sa halos $140 kada bariles, pinakamataas mula noong 2008.

Suhestiyon ng finance minister, sa halip na i-boycott ang Russian energy, ang susunod na sanctions ng G7 ay dapat na ipataw sa mga oligarkong yumaman sa ilalim ni President Vladimir Putin.

Noong Huwebes, nagdagdag pa ang US at UK ng Russian oligarchs sa isang blacklist ng mga negosyanteng may kaugnayan sa Kremlin na target na ng European Union.

Nang araw ding iyon ay sinabi ng France na sinamsam nila ang isang superyacht na pag-aari ng Russian oil czar na si Igor Sechin sa French Riviera.

Ang Russia ay humaharap na ngayon sa bugso ng mga sanction na nakadisenyo para ihiwalay sila sa international financial system.

Inihalintulad naman ni Putin ang global blacklisting sa deklarasyon ng giyera.
