Military aircrafts, sinira ng US bago umalis sa Kabul airport

WASHINGTON, United States (AFP) – Sinira ng US military ang maraming aircraft at armored vehicles, maging ang isang high-tech rocket defense system sa Kabul airport bago umalis.

Sinabi ni Central Command head General Kenneth McKenzie, na 73 aircraft na nasa Hamid Karzai International Airport ang dini-militarized o sinira ng US troops para hindi na gumana, bago nila tuluyang tinapos ang dalawang linggong paglikas mula sa Taliban-controlled Afghanistan.

Ayon kay McKenzie . . . “Those aircraft will never fly again, they’ll not be able to be operated by anyone. Most of them are non-mission capable to begin with. But certainly, they’ll never be able to be flown again.”

Aniya, nasa 70 MRAP armored tactical vehicles na maaaring umabot sa isang milyong dolyar ang halaga bawat isa, ay sinira bago umalis ang US troops at 27 Humvees.

Halos anim na libong tropa ng US ang umokupa at nag-operate sa Kabul airport nang magsimula ang paglilikas noong August 14, 2021.

Iniwan din ng US ang C-RAM system, counter rocket, artillery at mortar na ginamit para protektahan ang airport mula sa rocket attacks.

Sinabi ni McKenzie na pinili nilang manatiling gumagana ang naturang system, hanggang sa makaalis ang pinakahuling US aircraft.

Dagdag pa ng heneral . . . “It’s a complex procedure and time-intensive procedure to break down those systems. So we demilitarize those systems so that they’ll never be used again.”
