Pagbibigay ng COVID-19 vaccine boosters para sa may mahihinang immune system, pinayagan ng US

WASHINGTON, United States (AFP) – Binigyan na ng Estados Unidos ng awtorisasyon ang pagbibigay ng extra dose ng COVID vaccine para sa mga taong mahihina ang immune systems.

Nagkaloob na ng Emergency use authorization ang US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulator, para sa third injection ng Pfizer-BioNTech at Moderna vaccines.

Ayon kay acting FDA Commissioner Janet Woodcock . . . “The country has entered yet another wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the FDA is especially cognizant that immunocompromised people are particularly at risk for severe disease.”

Pahayag ng FDA, ang karagdagang dose ng bakuna ay para sa solid organ transplant recipients o sa mga may katulad na mahinang immune systems.

Pinagtatalunan ng mga awtoridad sa US kung kailangan nang magbigay ng 3rd dose, kasunod ng katulad na hakbang ng Israel.

Ipinahihiwatig naman ng ilang US media reports, na maaaring nakakuha na ng hindi awtorisadong 3rd dose ang isang milyong Amerikano, sa pagtatangkang mapalakas ang proteksiyon laban sa COVID-19.

Ayon kay Woodcook . . . “Individuals who are fully vaccinated are adequately protected and do not need an additional dose of COVID-19 vaccine at this time.”

Sinabi naman ni US COVID Advisor Anthony Fauci na . . . “Right now at this moment, other than the immune compromised, we’re not going to be giving boosters to people. But we will be following them very carefully, and if they do need it, we’ll be ready to give it to them…inevitably there will be a time when we will have to give boosts.”
