‘Thor: Love & Thunder,’ muling nanguna sa North American box office sa ikalawang linggo

Muling dinaig ng “Thor: Love and Thunder” ng Marvel ang kaniyang mga kalaban sa ikalawang sunod na linggo para manguna sa North American box office, na may tinatayang kita na $46 million.

Ang comedic follow-up sa “Thor: Ragnarok” noong 2017, ay kinatatampukan ni Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman bilang si Jane Foster na kasintahan ni Thor at Christian Bale na pumapel bilang kontrabida na si Gorr.

Malaki ang ibinaba ng kita nito sa ikalawang linggo ng pagpalabas kumpara sa kinita nito na $144 million sa unang linggo ng pagpapalabas, ngunit madali pa rin nitong tinalo ang “Minions: The Rise of Gru” na nasa ikalawang puwesto sa dalawang magkasunod na linggo, makaraan ang penomenal na pagbubukas nito sa linggong sakop ng July 4th holiday.

Ayon sa analyst na si David A. Gross ng Franchise Entertainment Research . . . “This is a very good opening for a movie that combines young adult romance and suspense crime drama. Where the Crawdads Sing’s weekend number is above average, in spite of weak reviews. These films have never been strong overseas, and that will be the case here as well.”

Bumagsak naman sa ika-apat mula sa ikatlong puwesto ang “Top Gun: Maverick” ng Paramount na kumita na ng $6.18 million sa buong mundo sa ika-walong linggo ng pagpapalabas nito.

Ito ang sequel sa orihinal na 1986 film na muling nagtatampok kay Tom Cruise bilang US Navy test pilot na si Pete “Maverick” Mitchell.

Bumagsak din ng isang puwesto mula sa dating ika-apat, nasa panglima na ngayon ang music biopic na “Elvis” ni Baz Luhrmann, na pinagbibidahan ni Austin Butler bilang Elvis at Tom Hanks bilang manager ni Elvis na si Colonel Tom Parker. Samantala, isa pang pelikula na nag-debut ng pagpapalabas — ang “Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank” ng Paramount ay kumita ng $6.3 million para sa ika-anim na puwesto. Tungkol ito sa kuwento ng isang aso na naitalagang maging protektor ng isang barangay ng mga pusa.
