Cyber threats mula China lumalala – AFP
Nagbabala ang Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), na patuloy at lumalala ang mga cyber attack mula sa China dahil sa umiinit na tensyon sa West Philippine Sea (WPS).
Sa isang forum ng Stratbase, sinabi ni Brig. Gen. Joey Fontiveros, hepe ng AFP Cyber Command, na patuloy ang mga pagtatangkang maglunsad ng cyber attarcks na may kinalaman sa China.
Kabilang dito ang Malware, DDOS attacks, data leaks, at pagkompromiso sa mga website upang maisulong ang mga pakay at interes ng Beijing.
Ayon kay Fontiveros, “These threats have intensified, contributing to a broader global risk profile, where misinformation, disinformation, and cyber insecurity rank among top short and long-term concerns. Locally, high-riak sectors include public administrations, 20.5% of dark web threats, but of course, if you update this, it is of greater percentage already.”
Aniya, kasama sa mga sektor na pinakamataas ang panganib, ay ang public administration, educational services, finance at insurance.
Nakatala rin na tumaas ng 37% ang online threats at 200% ang phishing incidents sa nakaraang panahon.
Sinabi pa ni Fontiveros, “The government should focus on institutionalizing cyber in the about the visibility that we need so that we can control. Does the government now, real talk, does the government now have the complete visibility on those people who have been trained in cyber? So, we lack that. So that any malpractice cannot also be monitores or attributed to someone because we do not have the database of those people taking all these necessary trainings for them to be equipped with cyber.”
Bagama’t may mga pagsubok na pasukin ang intelligence data ng bansa, wala pa ring malawakang breach na nakumpirma.
Patuloy namang pinalalakas ng pamahalaan ang depensa ng bansa sa pamamagitan ng National Cyber Security Plan at paggamit ng AI-powered detection systems, upang maprotektahan ang mga mahalagang impormasyon ng bansa.
Bilang tugon, iminumungkahi ang pagbuo ng malinaw na minimum security standards, pagpapalakas ng information operations, at pagpapalaganap ng tamang impormasyon sa pamamagitan ng aktibong partisipasyon ng mamamayan.
Kasama rin sa mga mungkahi ang pag-adapt ng makabagong teknolohiya, pagpapalakas ng technical attribution at intelligence, active defense, patuloy na pagsasanay at edukasyon, at ang pangarap na makabuo ng sariling teknolohiya sa cyber security.
Ayon kay DICT Cybersecurity Undersecretary Julius Gorospe, “But our exisiting policies actually have provisions for us to start addressing the problem. So, for example, in our policies, you know, it would state something like, you know, adopt the best and, you know, save technology.”
