Nagsagawa ng isang joint air drill ang South Korea, Japan at Estados Unidos ngayong Biyernes, na kinasasangkutan ng isang U.S. B-52 strategic bomber at fighter jets ng dalawang U.S. sa international waters.
Ayon sa defense ministry ng South Korea, ito ang unang pagkakataon ngayong taon na isang U.S. B-52H strategic bomber ang idineploy sa Korean Peninsula para sa isang drill, na isinagawa upang mapaghusay pa ang pagpigil sa tumitinding nuclear at missile threats ng North Korea.

Ngayong Biyernes din nagsagawa ng taunang pulong ang defense chiefs ng tatlong bansa, kung saan kinilala ng mga ito ang kahalagahan ng maigting na trilateral cooperation sa pagtugon sa hamon sa seguridad mula sa North Korea, sa Indo-Pacific at iba pang lugar.

Sa kaniyang opening remarks bago magsimula ang pulong, ay sinabi ni U.S. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine, “We’re illuminating a future path together, a path where partnerships can evolve through persistent and regular engagement from building capacity to really sharing responsibility.”
