DOJ, kumpiyansang magtatagumpay ang extradition kay ex-Cong. Teves mula sa Timor Leste
Tiwala ang Department of Justice (DOJ) na mapapabalik sa bansa si dating Congressman Arnolfo Teves Jr. mula sa Timor Leste upang harapin ang mga kasong murder laban sa kaniya.
Sinabi ni DOJ Spokesperson Mico Clavano na naisumite ng gobyerno ng Pilipinas nang maaga at alinsunod sa mga batas ng Timor Leste ang requirements sa extradition ni Teves.
” The Department is confident that the extradition proceedings will be successful. In addition, the former Congressman may also still be deported depending on the direction taken by the Timor Leste government in coordination with the Philippines. The Philippines, as the requesting party, must respect and participate in the legal proceedings of Timor Leste underscoring the sovereignty of each country ” ani Clavano.
Dahil dito, kampante ang DOJ na magtatagumpay ang extradition proceedings kay Teves.
Ayon pa kay Clavano, maaari ring maipa-deport si Teves depende sa desisyon ng pamahalaan ng Timor Leste. Bilang requesting party, dapat aniyang igalang at lumahok ang Pilipinas sa legal proceedings ng Timor Leste.
Una nang nilinaw ng DOJ na inaresto muli matapos na pansamantalang palayain si Teves para harapin ang extradition hearing nito.
