Nagretiro na si Southern Luzon Command (Solcom) Chief, Lt. Gen. Facundo Palafox, makalipas ang 38 taon sa serbisyo.
Ang joint change-of-command at retirement ceremony, ay ginanap sa Camp Guillermo Nakar, Lucena City, sa lalawigan ng Quezon.
Pinarangalan ni AFP chief Gen. Romeo Brawner, Jr., si Palafox para sa kaniyang “dedikasyon at tapat na serbisyo sa bansa.”
Ayon kay Brawner, “Lt. Gen. Palafox, a member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Bigkis-Lahi Class of 1990, has held numerous key positions in the Philippine Army and the AFP. Prior to his role as Solcom Commander, he led the PA’s Armor Pambato Division.”
Ang iba pang naging gampanin ni Palafox ay bilang commander ng 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade, at ng Civil-Military Operations Regiment.
Bukod sa kaniyang military achievements, si Palafox ay Masters Degree holder sa Public Management, major in Development and Security, mula sa Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP).
Papalit sa kaniya bilang acting chief si Brig. Gen. Aldwine Almase, na dati niyang assistant.
Si Almase ay miyembro ng PMA “Tanglaw-Diwa” Class of 1992, at dating nagsilbi bilang assistant deputy chief of staff for Intelligence at bilang chief of staff ng 9th Infantry Division.
Siya rin ay Master Degree holder ng Public Management mula sa DAP.
