Resulta ng personal na alitan ang pamamaril sa Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl victory rally, na ikinamatay ng isang tao at 22 naman ang nasaktan kabilang ang ilang mga bata, kung saan dalawang menor-de-edad ang kasama sa idinitini.
Umabot sa isang milyong fans ang nagtipon upang saksihan ang parada ng NFL champions, nang umalingawngaw ang mga putok bago mag alas-2:00 ng hapon noong Miyerkoles.
Sinabi ni Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves, “There was no nexus to terrorism or homegrown violent extremism. This appeared to be a dispute between several people that ended in gunfire.”
Aniya, “We have subjects detained, two of which are juveniles. We are working to determine the involvement of others.” Sinabi pa niya na ilang armas din ang narekober.
Ayon kay Stephanie Meyer, senior vice president sa Children’s Mercy hospital, tatlo sa 11 mga batang ginamot ang nasa ospital pa rin hanggang nitong Huwebes, subalit gagaling naman ang mga ito mula sa tinamong injuries.
Sa kabuuan, ang ospital ay gumamot ng 12 mga biktima, siyam ay may gunshot wounds at ang iba pa ay may “incidental injury.”
Kuwento ng dalawang sumaksi sa parada, na nagpakilala lamang bilang Gracie at McKenna, nakarinig sila ng sigaw na nagsabing yumuko.
Ayon kay McKenna, “We heard a couple shots. Everyone just immediately, instinctively crouched down.”
Ayon sa mga pulis, hindi bababa sa kalahati ng gunshot victims ay wala pang 16 na taong gulang.
Sinabi naman ni Paul Contreras, na kasama ng tatlo niyang anak na babae, na nadisarmahan niya ang isa sa mga hinihinalang namaril bago dumating ang mga pulis.
Aniya, “When I hit him from behind, I either jarred the gun out of his hand or out of his sleeve.”
Sinabi ng Chiefs star na si Travis Kelce, “I was heartbroken. My heart is with all who came out to celebrate with us and have been affected. KC, you mean the world to me.”
Sa kaniya namang post sa social media ay sinabi ng quarterback na si Patrick Mahomes, “Praying for Kansas City.”
Habang pahayag naman ng team ng Kansas City Chief, “We were truly saddened by the senseless act of violence.”
Sinabi ni Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas, “I don’t think in any way that this is Kansas City. I do think there is a gun violence challenge in this community and many others.”
Ayon pa kay Meyer, “The shooting will scar the community not just physically, but also mentally. I think it’s important that we talk about the tragedies and the lasting impact they’re going to have on the mental health of not only the community but all of our kids.”
Karaniwan na ang mass shootings sa United States, kung saan mas marami pang baril kaysa tao, at nasa 1/3 ng adults ang nagmamay-ari nito.
Ang victory parade ay kaugnay ng pagdiriwang ng Chiefs sa ikatlo nilang Super Bowl title sa loob ng limang seasons makaraang talunin ang San Francisco 49ers sa Las Vegas noong Linggo.
