Philippines at Malaysian armies, nag-renew ng kanilang cooperation

Ni-renew ng Philippine Army (PA) at ng Malaysian Army ang terms of reference (TOR) para sa kanilang kooperasyon, na muling magpapatibay sa malakas na ugnayan ng dalawang bansa.

Ayon kay PA chief Lt. Gen. Romeo Brawner, Jr. . . . “Our converging security interests, our shared sense of Asean identity, and our common vision of a more stable and peaceful Southeast Asia are the pillars by which this Terms of Reference stands.’

Ang ugnayan sa pagitan ng Philippine Army at Malaysian counterpart nito ay nagsimula noong Setyembre 1994, nang lumagda ang dalawang bansa sa isang memorandum of understanding (MOU) sa Defense Cooperation.

Binuo ng Pilipinas at Malaysia ang Combined Committee on Defense Cooperation na humantong sa paglikha ng Malaysia-Philippine Military Cooperation Working Group, at ng Malaysia-Philippine Army Working Group.

Ang TOR, na ni-renew ni Brawner at Malaysian Chief of Army Gen. Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Zamrose Bin Mohd Zain sa punong-tanggapan ng Philippine Army sa Fort Bonifacio noong Abril 28, ay naglatag ng batayan para sa hinaharap na bilateral activities sa pagitan ng dalawang hukbo.

Sinabi ni Brawner na ang pag-renew ay nagpapakita ng matatag na ugnayan sa pagitan ng dalawang hukbo.

Aniya . . . “It also articulates our desire to enhance and complement each others’ military capabilities in specified areas in the spirit of friendship and brotherhood, and lastly, it is a testament to our wavering commitment to promoting regional peace and stability consistent with the Asean Charter.’

Ang opisyal ng militar ng Malaysia ay nasa bansa para dumalo sa 2022 edition ng Asian Defense and Security, ang biennial flagship defense at security exhibition ng Pilipinas na nagsimula noong 2014.

Iginawad din ni Brawner ang “Combat Kagitingan Badge” kay Zamrose kasunod ng pag-renew ng TOR.
