Zero tariff policy para sa two-wheeled EVs, hybrid vehicles, at iba pa inaprubahan na ng NEDA Board

The NEDA Board has approved the reduction of tariffs on e-bikes, hybrid vehicles and others to promote their use in the country./PCO/

Inaprubahan na ng National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) Board, ang pagbabawas ng mga taripa na ipinataw sa mga e-motorcycle, e-bicycle at nickel metal hydride accumulators sa zero hanggang 2028.

Saklaw din ng zero tariff policy ang e-tricycles at quadricycles, hybrid EVs at plug-in hybrid EV (PHEV) jeepneys o buses.

Nagkasundo rin ang NEDA Board, sa kanilang ika-16 na pagpupulong, na i-maintain ang Most Favored Nation rate at zero for duty sa 34 na tariff lines ng battery electric vehicles na kasalukuyang saklaw ng Executive Order No. 12.

Ipinag-utos ni Pangulong Bongbong Marcos, na siyang umuupo bilang NEDA Board chair, ang isang annual review sa rates upang matiyak na napapanahon ito at aplikable sa mga sangkot na sektor.

Sinabi ni NEDA Secretary and board vice-chair Arsenio Balisacan, “By encouraging consumers to adopt EVs, we are promoting a cleaner, more resilient, and more environmentally friendly transportation alternative.”
