Kauna-unahang Chief Judiciary Marshal, itinalaga ng SC

Mayroon nang Chief Marshal ang hudikatura sa katauhan ni retired Brigadier General Manuel R. Gaerlan.
Si Gaerlan ang kauna-unahang chief marshal ng bagong tatag na Office of the Judiciary Marshal (OJM), na responsable sa pagtugon at pag-iimbestiga sa mga banta sa mga miyembro ng hudikatura.
Pinangunahan ni Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo ang panunumpa ni Gaerlan sa posisyon nitong Lunes, sa Supreme Court Session Hall.
Si Gaerlan na nagtapos sa Philippine Military Academy noong 1985, ay may 30 taong karanasan sa larangan ng security, intelligence, investigation, at law enforcement.
Nagsilbi at humawak siya ng iba’t ibang posisyon sa AFP at PNP, at naging bahagi ng Presidential Security Group ni dating Pangulong Fidel V. Ramos.
Narito ang pahayag mula sa tanggapan ng Supreme Court Offic e of the Spokesperson, ” As Chief Marshal, Gen. Gaerlan will lead efforts to ensure the security of judges, court personnel, and judiciary properties across the country. He will be supported by three Deputy Marshals assigned to Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.”
