Sinimulan na ng Bicol International Airport ang kanilang commercial operations.

Sinabi ni Dept. of Transportation (DOTr) Sec. Arthur Tugade na sumaksi sa inagurasyon na pinangunahan ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte, na ang paliparan ay “night-rated” na rin at magsisimula na ng kanilang night operations sa Nobyembre.

Ayon sa DOTr . . . “The country’s ‘Most Scenic Gateway’ will offer domestic and international passengers contactless properties that are innovative solutions during the pandemic, with the iconic Mayon Volcano as its backdrop.”

Pahayag ng Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, ginamit ng BIA ang serbisyo ng developer ng Clark International Airport (CRK) sa Pampanga, na maglalagay sa BIA ng kaparehong high-technology features ng CRK gaya ng contactless baggage handling at isang food ordering system.

Sinabi ng DOTr, na ang paliparan ay kayang mag-accomodate ng kabuuang dalawang milyong pasahero bawat taon.

Inaasahang mapalalakas nito ang air traffic sa Bicol Region.

Ayon kay Pangulong Duterte . . . “This airport, dubbed as the ‘Most Scenic Gateway’ in the country, promises to provide unforgetabble travel experience, not only of visitors but many Bicolanos.”
