Inter-agency committee para pakiharapan ang inflation, itinatag ni PBBM

Itinatag ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos, Jr., ang isang inter-agency body na inaatasang pigilan ang pagtaas pa sa presyo ng mga pangunahing bilihin at singil sa kuryente.

Sa ilalim ng Executive Order 28 na nagtatag sa Inter-Agency Committee on Inflation and Market Outlook (IAC-IOM), inaatasan din ang task force na palakasin ang anti-inflationary intiatives para pagbutihin ang ekonomiya at kalidad sa buhay ng mga mamamayan.

Ang komite ang magsisilbing advisory body sa Economic Development Group (EDG) sa mga pamamaraan para mapanatili sa government targets ang inflation, partikular ang pagkain at enerhiya.

“In view of the increasing prices of key commodities, particularly food and energy resources, the creation of an advisory body to the EDG, tasked to directly address inflation, will strengthen the EDC, and reinforce existing government initiatives aimed to improve the economy and the quality of life of the Filipino people,” nakasaad sa EO na nilagdaan ni Pangulong Marcos.

Kabilang sa mandato ng IAC-IMO ang mga sumusunod:

• Mahigpit na magbantay sa main drivers ng inflation, partikular ang pagkain at enerhiya, at ang posibleng dahilan;
• Pag-assess sa supply-demand situation para sa mahalagang food commodities sa panahon ng anihan;
• Tayahin ang posibleng impact ng natural at man-made shocks sa supply ng pangunahing food commodities;
• Magbantay sa pandaigdigan, regional, at domestic developments at usapin na may epekto sa presyo; at
• Magsumite ng napapanahong rekomendasyon sa EDG at mahalagang ahensya sa mga pamamaraan para sawatain ang pataas ng presyo at isulong ang food security.

Sa ilalim ng EO, ipinag-utos din ni Pangulong Marcos ang reorganisasyon sa Economic Development Cluster (EDC) bilang EDG.

“There is a need to reorganize the EDC to ensure that the integration of programs, activities and priorities toward sustained economic growth remains efficient and effective.”

“In view of the increasing prices of key commodities, particularly food and energy resources, the creation of an advisory body to the EDC tasked to directly address inflation, strengthen the EDC, and reinforce existing government initiatives aimed to improve the economy and the quality of life of the Filipino people,” nakasaad pa sa EO.

Ayon sa Presidential Communications Office (PCO), nilagdaan ni Pangulong Marcos ang EO noong April 26.

Aakto ang National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) bilang chairman ng IAC-IMO, habang aakto naman ang secretary of finance bilang co-chairman.

Makakasama naman bilang miyembro ng bagong task force ang mga kalihim ng Departments of Agriculture, Energy, Science and Technology, Trade at Interior and Local Government.

Inatasan din ng Pangulo ang IAC-IO na magsumite ng report sa EDG ukol sa food at energy supply ng bansa, gayundin sa demand situation at outlook bawat quarter ng taon, o kung may pangangailangan.

Makakapaloob sa report ang rekomendasyon para sa short, medium at long-term measures para i-manage ang inflation.
