Pilipinas at Israel nagkasundong magtulungan sa agrikultura at water management

Nagkasundo ang Pilipinas at Israel na palakasin ang pagtutulungan sa agrikultura, water management, gayundin sa pagtatatag ng direct flights sa pagitan ng dalawang bansa.

Kasunod ito ng naging pagpupulong nitong Lunes nina Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. at Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen.

Sa nasabing pagpupulong, ipinarating ni Cohen ang kahandaan ng Israel na makipagtulungan sa Pilipinas sa agrikultura para tiyakin ang food security.

“I think that we can work together on the segment of agriculture. I just let you know that our land, 60 percent of our land is desert. But although 60 percent of our land is desert, we were able to provide all our water needs,” Cohen said, suggesting that the two nations open an agricultural hub to push the initiative.

“And I think that we can work together and let’s say that less import, more export for the Philippines. And I think that we can work together,” pahayag pa ng Israeli foreign minister.

Bukod sa agrikultura, sinabi ni Cohen na maaari ring magtulungan ang Pilipinas at Israel sa usapin ng water management, dahil na rin sa malawak na karanasan ng Israel sa nasabing sector.

Dahil sa kakapusan sa tubig, malaking bahagi ng water resources ng Israel ang nire-reuse at maaari raw nilang ibahagi ang kanilang karanasan dito sa Pilipinas sa pamamagitan ng mga ekspertong pabibisitahin sa bansa para magbigay ng mga payo.

Sinabi naman ni Pangulong Marcos na napakahalaga para sa bansa ang agricultural development kasabay ng pagpaparating ng paghanga sa advancement na naabot ng Israel sa larangan ng agrikultura.

Nagpapasalamat ang Pangulo na binuksan ng Israeli official ang usapin lalo’t agrikultura ang pangunahing prioridad ng administrasyon para mapabuti ang ekonomiya.

“Because when we look at the economy as hard to just test, we said how do we fix the economy. It always comes down to agriculture first, how to fix every policy, then everything else would be great. So that’s the position that we find ourselves in.”
“So, the offers that you make for assistance and partnership in those two areas are very, very welcome,” pahayag pa ni Pangulong Marcos.

Sa isyu ng water management, sinabi ng Chief Executive na tinitingnan ng Pilipinas ang Israel at Singapore para sa best practices na maaaring tularan ng bansa.

Bukod sa isyu ng agrikultura at water management, binuksan din ni Cohen ang usapin ng pag-e-establisa ng direct flight sa pagitan ng Pilipinas at Israel para palakasin ang turismo at economic ties.

“There’s another thing that we, both of us, took for an action item – (it) is to have a direct flight… your external sea between Israel and the Philippines,” pahayag ni Cohen matapos tukuyin ang naunang pakikipagpulong sa mga Filipino officials.

“And I think that we agree that both ministries will work together to have the direct flight and this is also to bring more business people to come to invest and reach the place between us. So this is also another important action item that we will do,” dagdag pa ng Israeli official.
