Siyam patay nang mahulog ang tatlong sasakyan sa isang bangin sa Costa Rica

Hindi bababa sa siyam katao ang nasawi at apat na iba pa ang nawawala nang mahulog sa isang bangin sa mabundok na bahagi ng Costa Rica, ang isang bus at dalawa pang sasakyan.

Ang bus, kotse at isang motorsiklo ay dumausdos sa 75-metrong lalim (245-talampakan) na bangin, matapos magkaroon ng landslide dulot ng malakas na pag-ulan sa El Hundimiento mountain pass, humigit-kumulang 80 kilometro o 50 milya, sa kanluran ng San Jose, kapitolyo ng Costa Rica.

Ayon sa Costa Rican Social Security na namamahala sa public health services ng bansa, nakakuha ang rescue services ng 50 survivors, kabilang ang driver ng bus.

Ayon sa Red Cross, “As of now, we know of nine people who did not have vital signs, and four people remain missing.”

Sinabi ng may-ari ng transport company na si German Alfaro, na ang bus ay bumibiyahe sa pagitan ng San José at Guanacaste Province lulan ang 47 katao.

Ayon sa mga residente sa lugar, nangyari ang aksidente dahil sa kakulangan ng protective barriers o signage sa kahabaan ng kalsada.

Ngunit ayon sa gobyerno ay “unpredictable” ang insidente. Sinabi ni Luis Amador, Minister ng Public Works and Transportation, “It is not the fault of the government or the bus company. It is something we cannot predict.

Kaugnay nito ay nagdeklara si Costa Rican President Rodrigo Chaves ng tatlong araw na national mourning, at sinabing hindi siya dadalo sa United Nations General Assembly sa New York dahil sa emergency sa kaniyang bansa na bunsod ng malalakas na pag-ulan.
