Gobyerno pinagkukomento ng Korte Suprema kaugnay sa petisyon na ipatigil at ipawalang-bisa ang Chico River loan deal sa China

Inatasan ng Korte Suprema ang gobyerno na maghain ng komento sa petisyon na humihiling na ipatigil at ideklarang labag sa Saligang Batas ang pinasok na 62 million US dollar na loan deal ng Pilipinas sa Chico River Irrigation Pump Project ng China.

Ayon kay Supreme Court Public Information Chief Atty Brian Keith Hosaka, binigyan ng 10 araw ng Korte Suprema ang mga respondents para magsumite ng komento.

Kabilang sa mga respondents sa petisyon ng Makabayan bloc si Pangulong Duterte, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, Finance Sec.  Carlos Dominguez III,  NEDA Secretary Ernesto Pernia, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra at NIA Administrator Ricardo Visaya.

Iginiit ng mga petitioners na dapat mabasura ang loan agreement sa China dahil tali ang kamay ng Pilipinas dito.

Ang pagkakaroon anila ng confidentiality clause ng kasunduan ay paglabag din sa right to information ng sambayanang Pilpino sa mga pinasok na foreign loans ng pamahalaan

Sa hiwalay na pahayag, pinasalamatan ng Makabayan bloc ang Korte Suprema sa kautusan  nito na sagutin ng gobyerno ang kanilang petisyon laban sa loan deal sa China.

Umaasa ang grupo na maglalabas ang Korte Suprema ng TRO para ipatigil ang implementasyon ng loan deal.

“We thank the High Court for giving due course to our petition. By ordering Pres. Duterte and other respondents to comment, the Court recognizes the gravity of the issues we raised. We still hope that the Court issues a temporary restraining order or an injunction to prevent the government and China from enforcing the loan agreement. We also urge the the respondents to immediate comply with the Court’s ruling given the far reaching implications of this and other loan agreements on our people.” – Makabayan Bloc
