US Afghan evacuations, pansamantalang naantala

WASHINGTON, United States (AFP) – Kinumpirma ng US officials na naantala ng ilang oras ang evacuation operation nitong Biyernes, dahil overcrowded na ang receiving base sa Qatar at hindi na kayang tumanggap ng evacuees.

Sinabi ni Major General Hank Taylor, na itinigil muna ang US airlift flights mula sa Kabul airport, dahil libu-libo nang afghans ang ibiniyahe sa isang US base sa Qatar at punong puno na ito.

Ayon kay Taylor . .
“It was early Friday morning, and it lasted about 6-7 hours. And that has been cleaned up, flights have departed there, and it has allowed us to continue with those that are ready to fly in Kabul to leave.”

Sinabi naman ni Pentagon Spokesman John Kirby . . . “The sites at Qatar were just at capacity. There was just no room to flow in additional people.”

Nagresume ang flights mula sa Kabul Biyernes ng hapon o gabi, matapos ayusin ng US officials sa Qatar ang flights para sa maraming evacuees upang dalhin ang mga ito sa US military base sa Ramstein, Germany.
